Welcome, below you can see me, Nina. This picture was taken in Ireland, hopefully a blog post about that trip will be online soon! I am a 24 year old girl from The Netherlands. On this page, I’ll tell you a little about myself and explain why I started this travel diary.
Why I started this blog
As a child, I really liked writing, which is something I want to pick up again. As an adult, I really like travelling. So I thought, why not combine these two passions and start a travel diary? This way I can record my journeys, enabling me to relive them and share them with others.
I am currently a master's student Nanobiology and Computer Science, with a specialization in Bioinformatics, at the TU Delft.
In my studies, I mainly focus on data analysis and artificial intelligence, so building websites is not really my comfort zone.
That’s why I thought it would be fun (and a bit of a challenge) to create my travel diary as a website that I am building myself.
So far I have learned a lot, and I hope to continue learning as I add more features and content.

So now you know a bit more about why I started this project. Let me tell you more about me as a person. Currently, my two main hobbies are reading and gaming. I love to immerse myself into another world, whether it is through a book or a game. My favorite book genres are fantasy and science fiction, but I also try to expand my horizons by reading other genres, like non-fiction and literature. When it comes to gaming, I like to play a variety of games, from rpg games, like Baldur's Gate, to cozy games like The Sims and Stardew Valley. But my all time favorite game series is Pokémon.
My passion for Pokémon deserves its own paragraph, so here I go. As a child, I always loved the Pokémon games and anime. I have played Pokémon sapphire countless of times, and have enjoyed almost all other Pokémon games as well.
Additionally, my boyfriend and I try to collect Pokémon cards, as long as they are not too overpriced due to scalpers...
We also like to play Pokémon Go together, which is a great way to explore new places (add me with friend code 9079 6805 2888). We also try to go to Pokémon events, so you may see some blog posts about these on this website as well!
I have also crocheted some Pokémon plushies (and other plushies), which you can see on my Instagram account.
My love for Pokémon is the reason that you might see some Pokémon pictures and references on this website, for example the name of this website, Nina Used Fly, which is a reference to the move Fly that many Pokémon can learn to travel quickly.
